The much-anticipated Shetland Wool Week annual hat pattern, by Alison Rendall, takes inspiration from nature and is called the ‘Buggiflooer Beanie’. Alison’s hat is a distinctive design that incorporates traditional elements together with a flower motif. She chose the name Buggiflooer – a Shetland name for Sea Campion – which grows in abundance near her home by the sea. “I like to support Shetland language and culture by using Shetland words in my designs. This practice helps keep them alive in both usage and understanding, bringing them back into the forefront of people’s minds.” Our kit includes the yarn and pattern.

Yarn: Fidalgo Artisan Yarn Halo (50% Fine Alpaca, 50% Wool). 6 colors, wound at just the right amount+extra.
Needles and Notions: Suggested needle size is US 2 (2.75mm) 16-inch circular needle or size to obtain gauge, US 2 (2.75mm) double pointed needles, stitch markers, tapestry needle.
Gauge: 34 stitches = 4 inches in color work pattern after blocking.
